What you should know when traveling to Mexico with kids

Mexico has a host of activities for children, too, and most parents who travel in Mexico with their kids will often find a welcoming place.  Most public places are also open to and have goodies for children, such as coffee shops, restaurants, attractions, and parks, to name a few. 

Restaurants, for instance, include meals children would surely find palatable in their menu.  If not, a separate menu will be given to you.  Keeping children in order is also made easy with play areas often within the premises of many public attractions.

The Mexican culture itself puts the family as a pivotal element of society, and it’s common for families, up to the fourth generation, to sit at lunch or dinner together in a restaurant.

Mexico loves children

Children are well-loved in Mexico.  In fact, the country annually celebrates Children’s Day, locally called “Dia del Niño”, every 30th April, in which it’s customary to give them presents. For a child to make the most and enjoy the vacation, it would be best to tag him along when he’s over 6 years. The long flights and other activities might be too much for very young children. It’s also because older children could benefit more from the experience.

If you would be traveling to Mexico alone with a child or children, you won’t be required to provide a notarized letter to enter Mexico. Yet, as with other countries, children will have to have their own passports to be allowed entry.

Practical health and childcare advice for parents with children

Mexico is generally regarded as a safe vacation destination for children. It has low crime rate and has both educational and beautiful places to offer its young visitors. However, some practical health tips would make the vacation more enjoyable and memorable for children.

• High altitude – many of the country’s inland destinations are situated at high altitudes which can be very tiring for young children. If you are going to visit elevated regions, include stop over in your itinerary so the kids can have restful breaks in between.
• Baby sitters in Mexico – if you want a night out, you can have babysitters watch over your child/ren. Ask your hotel for information on the most trustworthy babysitting agency within the area.
